Patience is part of it, but not unlimited: sometimes you wait for something that never comes.
Indexing a new site usually takes a few days to a few weeks. Single new pages on an existing site go faster, often within days. If it takes longer than a month, there is usually a blockage or Google thinks the page is too thin: then you are waiting for something that will not happen.
STEP BY STEP
This is how you approach it
- Submit your sitemapVia Search Console. That's the fastest way to get your pages noticed, and you'll immediately see how many have been included.
- Make sure every page is linkedGoogle follows links. A page that isn't linked to anywhere may never be discovered, sitemap or not.
- Check for blockagesA noindex or a block in robots.txt keeps a page permanently out of the index. This is the first check when in doubt.
- Request indexation for your most important pagesYou can submit individual addresses in Search Console. That helps with the initial discovery; repeated submissions do nothing.
- Wait a monthThen you have a realistic picture. Drawing conclusions earlier mainly causes unnecessary unrest.
- Then look at the reasonSearch Console lists each page as to why it is not included. “Crawled, not indexed” is a substantive judgment, not a glitch.
PITFALLS
When indexation is not forthcoming
For a brand new domain without any outside referrals, it may take longer, simply because there is no route to it. One relevant link from an existing site helps more than ten resubmissions.
And if Google crawls a page but doesn't include it, the content is to blame. You solve that by improving or merging the page, not by waiting.
- New domain — count on weeks, not days.
- No inbound links — there is no route to it.
- Orphan pages — without an internal link nothing is found.
- 'Crawled, not indexed' — substantive judgment.
- Resubmitting doesn't help — once is enough.

Can I speed it up?
