What is remarketing?

Effective and annoying are closer together here than with any other form of advertising.

Remarketing is showing advertisements to people who previously visited your website, recognized via a cookie or pixel. Because they already know you, the chance of conversion is higher and the click price is often lower. It requires prior permission, because that recognition is done via unnecessary cookies.

IN COMMON LANGUAGE

Why it works and when it backfires

Someone who viewed your pricing page but didn't apply is closer to a decision than a random searcher. Reaching that person again is more efficient than convincing a new searcher.

It changes as soon as the frequency becomes too high. The same advertisement twenty times a week turns interest into irritation, and that affects how people think about your brand.

WHY IT MATTERS

What you arrange before you start

Prior consent is required, because remarketing runs on non-necessary cookies. The pixel is not allowed to load without valid permission.

In addition, set a frequency limit and a duration. Someone who looked three months ago is usually no longer a candidate.

  • Consent before the pixel loads — otherwise it is not allowed.
  • Set frequency limit — irritation costs you more than the click yields.
  • Limit duration — after weeks, interest usually disappears.
  • Exclude buyers — advertising to those who have already bought is a waste of budget.
  • Mention it in your privacy statement — including the party that implements it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

More about remarketing

Is remarketing allowed just like that?

No. It runs on non-essential cookies and therefore requires prior consent, with refusal as easy as acceptance. If the pixel loads before you click, then it is wrong.

Does it work for business services?

It can help with longer decision processes, because people rarely decide on the first visit. With small numbers of visitors, the target group is often too small to do anything meaningful with it.

Do you do this?

No, we do not run advertising campaigns. We ensure that the permission handling on your site is technically correct, so that a specialist can build on it correctly.

Technology and permission in order?

We ensure that pixels only load after permission: the condition for every campaign.
